I'm getting this message when I run xrn.

} Either you are running a pre-1.5 NNTP server or XHDR has
} not been defined in 'nntp/common/conf.h'
} XRN requires XHDR support to run.

I don't run it often, so I don't know if this is a benefit of the new
release.
