I'm not sure if this or a bug or just a new default action for Emacs.
1. M-x e<TAB> use to bring up a "possible completions" buffer and it no longer
does.
2. C-s foobar<BACKSPACE> use to delete the last character of the search string
(eg foobar -> fooba). Now it cancels the search and deletes the character
at the cursor.
