Re: FileZilla 1.8 Release Effort Underway
------
In September a Discovery team was formed to investigate different means
of secure file transfer for the Windows Platform. After an extensive
environmental scan and product testing and review, the team decided that
the Kerberized secure file transfer client should be FileZilla 1.8. This
outcome is a major boon for Windows clients, as there has not been, up
to now, any easy and secure means of transferring files to Athena
servers. For more information about this Discovery project, visit
http://web.mit.edu/discovery/win-file-xfer.
The FileZilla Release Effort is getting underway to deliver this client
to the MIT community. The release effort will focus on further testing
of the product, creating documentation for the product and for secure
file transfer at MIT in general, gearing up support, and packaging the
product for the MIT environment.
We will send updates throughout the process. For more information on
FileZilla and the release effort, see
http://web.mit.edu/swrt/filezilla/. If you have questions, suggestions,
or would like to participate in the release of FileZilla, please contact
the team via email at filezilla-release@mit.edu.
