Release Team Update
--------------------------
The Netscape release team expects to begin community testing of MIT
installers for Netscape 4.78 this week. Full release of Netscape
4.78 for MIT is scheduled for December 10, 2001. The MIT Netscape installer
for both Windows and Macintosh platforms incorporates settings
pre-configured for MIT use, and includes the MIT CA certificate. Also
included are customized Bookmarks.
New Features or Improvements
-----------------------------
Windows 2000 Restricted User support
Fixes Windows 2000 file and registry permission problems
Various bug fixes (including security ones)
Improved Mousewheel support on Windows platforms
Improved support for Sun Java plug-in
Support for Solaris2.8.(Athena)
Testing
-----------------
Testing is expected to begin on Thursday, November 8, 2001 and conclude on
Wednesday, November 21, 2001. For those interested in testing the installer,
please notify Deb Bowser <bowser@mit.edu> no later than Wednesday, November 7,
indicating which platform you would prefer to test.
