Good Afternoon!

The TSM Release Team would like to invite you to participate in testing TSM
4.1 (Tivoli Storage Management) for Mac. We have been working with the
vendor who has provided an updated client code that included a fix for
problems previously encountered.

Our goal is to have approximately 20 volunteers contribute in this effort.
Extensive internal testing within the team has been ongoing over the last
several weeks and feel the client is in a stable state to release to the
MIT community for testing purposes.

Some issues to ponder prior to volunteering:

Available time for active evaluation:
  - we anticipate a 2-3 hour allotment for testing

Evaluation to include:
  - testing the installer process and behaviors
  - testing the functionality of the application
  - testing the documentation

If you agree to assist, we will provide the following:
  - the installer
  - the documentation
  - testing instructions

In order to conduct TSM testing you will need to have an existing ADSM/TSM
account. For those who do not have an account but would like to obtain
one, please register on line:
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/tsm/registration.html. For those who do not
currently use ADSM and would like to test the application prior to making a
decision on using the product as a backup service, please contact Dave
Kalenderian <davek@mitvma.mit.edu>.

**Please be aware that previous versions of ADSM may be deleted during the
TSM install process**

While we would prefer that you conduct testing on a machine that will
receive regular use, the installer you will be testing is in beta and may
cause unexpected changes to your system. If you do use a production
machine, you should plan to make a back up your files before installing the
software.

As an alternative, we offer the Integration Laboratory located in N42 for
testing. If you would prefer to use the lab, please contact me to make
arrangements.

If you are interested in assisting with the evaluation, please contact me
by Wednesday, May 30th. We are sketching out plans to initiate testing on
Thursday, May 31st and continuing for approximately two weeks ending on
June 14th. If you have any questions, please contact the TSM MAC Release
Team at <tsmmac-release@mit.edu>.

Sincerely,
