Information Systems is happy to announce support for Virex 7 for Mac
OS X 10.0.3 and above. Mac OS X 10.2 users should also install the
Hotfix, see below.
Who Should Download and Why
------------------------------
Any Macintosh OS X user, not already running Virex 7.0 or a
comparable anti-virus package should download and install this
version. For installation instructions see the link below. If you are
running Mac OS X 10.2, be sure to apply the Hotfix.
If you do not have local IT support, you can contact the Computing
Help Desk with questions about anit-virus software.

- Hotfix available for OS 10.2 users only
Known Issues
-------------
- Virex crashes on Mac OS X 10.2 without the hotfix
- Monthly updates cannot be obtained automatically.
- Updates and hotfixes must be downloaded and installed manually.
- Scans must be done manually and can slow down the machine considerably.
- An administrator password is required to install Virex 7, the
Hotifx, and updates.

The installer is available from http://web.mit.edu/software/mac.html
as Virex 7.0.
Before installing Virex 7.0 and (for OS 10.2 only) the Hotfix, please
review the system requirements and installation instructions at

initiating scans.
