Accomplishments:
Continued to offer electronic reserves to 11.014J
Some troubleshooting -- connection problems, printing problems
Team member met with class to discuss difficulties and offer solutions
Identified second class to pilot service
Goals for the coming period:
Continue to make necessary improvements in response to reported
difficulties
Go live with second class
Define workflow issues as they arise
Assess impact of font replacement (see below)
Key learnings:
Most of the negative comments had to do with the size of the .pdf
files. Even without printing them, they are horribly slow to load and
unwieldy to work with. Using Adobe Capture software we have created font
replacement versions and are presently linking to them; we hope these will
be easier. Having a follow-up visit to the class was a good thing to do; it
presented an opportunity to pass along some techniques and suggestions.
Students had noticed the improvements we'd made and commented that the
system had improved since the start of the semester.
