Project Name: EHSS - Environmental Health & Safety Management System
Project Leader: Rob Smyser, Rocklyn Clarke
Report Date March 29, 2000
Submitted by: Rob Smyser
URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/ehss/

Accomplishments past period:
- met with Debbie Levinson for a PostMortem of the MIT Virtual Tour, with
an eye for scoping costs and level of effort if something similar were to
be developed with a health and safety perspective as part of EHSS.
- met with Barb Goguen to obtain costs and level of effort estimates for
Casetracker, a project we might liken in scope to the Chemicals Inventory
effort.
- Reviewed status of project deliverables with an eye to wrapping up
Discovery on some of the elements, and scope-boxing the extent of work to
consider in this phase.
- Met with Discovery director to review where the project is and what we're
likely to move forward with, next steps in the political process, etc.
Started to talk about developer resource needs.
- Decided to move ahead with the "Virtual Research University" web-based
educational tool, a la the MIT Virtual Tour. Rocklyn is taking the lead on
this sub-initiative.

Goals for the coming period:

- Create an executive level summary view of what the project(s) would be
based on what we know today from all our central office interviewing.
- Get on the the Sponsor's calendar for a review a few weeks from now.
- Have an Entities and Relationships review with Scott Thorne and the
central offices team.
- Contact more vendors of possible buy-it solutions.
- Assemble more design details to support ballpark cost estimates.
- Get all the mostly-formed but not written down in an elegant way design
ideas _written down_ so that it looks like we're as far along as we really
are.

Issues:
Can't involve the end-user community in focus-group activities until the
Project is allowed to be made visible to the public. Thus we're only able
to move forward the project modules that involve the central offices people.

Key learnings:
   Nothing to report

Team dynamics:
   Nothing to report
