Project Name: Third Barton Project (Project to find a replacement
for the MIT LIbrary Management System)
Project Management Team: Nina Davis-Millis, Joan Kolias, Carl Jones
Report Date: December 1, 1999
URL: http:/macfadden.mit.edu:9500/c3/3dbarton
Accomplishments Past Period:
- Finished de-briefing sessions with Financial Functionality
Team and technical review with Integration Team Members, Susan
Minai-Azary and Jeff Schiller. We also talked with Ray Cheng who
attended the Financial functionality session. Susan
recommended we add the kerberos as a must-do requirement which
the 2 or 3 selected vendors must agree to in writing before
going onto the second round.
- Spoke with Purdue University Systems Office regarding their
experiences with Endeavor.
- Conference call with Systems Librarian at Carnegie-Mellon re.
their experiences with SIRSI Unicorn. We will probably want to
call them back and speak with individuals in the actual
functional areas.
- We asked Ex-Libris to send us the API for their security
module and we will also select a few other API's from a list
they provided us for review.
- We now have price quotes from all 5 of the vendors.
Goals for the coming period:
- Continue to do follow-up calls to other sites running the
systems most
seriously under consideration. Also calling Endeavor sites to
see what's up and if their experiences in any way parallels that
of our staff response.
- Put together document with written reviews of each vendor
based on the Demo's and follow-up phone/email questions to
representative institutions.
- Look again at possibility of site-visits?
