Joe,
Sorry to have incited such frowns. Also, kakapo, sorry my original
link-change message was misaddressed to that list.
In your and my personal chats, I hear you asking for several things.
First, you have felt left out of the testing process for the new form.
That is an oversight - I should have known that all members of
container-request should have had a part in testing the new form.
Though Paul, Oliver and others beat on it alot, you have a right to
know, look and bang on it. Indeed, your eye proved useful in finding
some problems with yesterday's version. I understand you are now
looking at in its live form, thanks.
The new top form sends mail to kakapo, and AFAIK container-request
does not get automated notice of it. Should kakapo lag in responding
to that, I believe the implied process relies on the originating
customer's repetition or complaint. With the reverse action, when a
new customer goes to the third, existing customer, site, it seems that
the recipient container-request should feel free to forward, manually,
such a request to kakapo.
Moreover, yes, contact-container-admins might have been warned about
this, ideally a week before the change. Such may not always be
practical, but I'll try to enforce this better next time we deploy
another official form. For this one, when we see the Container
Administrators tomorrow, we will, post-hoc, announce it. In general,
please help remind me to keep administrators and users of a technology
involved in designing as well as testing it.
So, accepting your anxiety with the haste in changing the pismere web
form, for a short term, I have replaced the link to the old container
request form at http://mit.edu/pismere/support/web-interfaces.html
with the accompanying language:
_Request a win.mit.edu container_. This is a new, official request
form, but if you see any problem with it, please say so using the
mail message "Contact Information" link there. You may still visit
the deprecated _old request form_.
Another thing for which you have a legitimate request is access to the
official form file system. I believe all forms will reside down from
/mit/windows/server. This request is equally as reasonable as the
understanding that for now developers need access to windows/server
documentation. Under a separate message you ask windows-server-www
for form access, and I will assist in following up on it.
