Peter Kelley and I talked at the end of last week. Here's how we're going to proceed.
We will be taking possession of the newly arrived server, and it will known for
the period up until we cutover into production as isworkx.mit.edu. Rachel Sage
will coordinate the ASST activities at the W91 end. We are using small
server/bronze level service for this application service. When we move into
production, the machine that is currently being used for the project database
will be returned to ASST for reallocation.
ASST will be following their standards for ASST servers in terms of operating
system, etc., which will include Kerberos and such, but will NOT include AFS,
and this new server will not be Athenized.
Rachel will ensure that anyone on the iswork team that needs to have remote
access to the machine via kerberized login, or through SSH for file transfers,
will be properly set up.
Miki, you should contact Rachel ASAP to pass along information about the OS
levels, DBMS levels and the like that should be on the machine.
I expect that we will continue to use the development machines in W91 and E40 to
code and test versions as we proceed in the next month, and that at appropriate
levels, transport stable tested versions into the isworkx.mit.edu environment
for final integration testing.
