My experience trying to set up Netscape on athena.
I set up the preferences in Netscape following the notes under NS
configuration -- most of it was relatively straightforward. Once I
finished entering the settings though, I couldn't figure out how to
actually have netscape check if there was any mail on the server (even
though I knew there actually was). I tried a variety of things, including
get msg, but to no avail.
So then, I decided to close netscape messenger and open it back up again,
because i figured that messenger would automatically check for mail when it
was first started up. So, I closed messenger (note, I didn't close
netscape altogether). Then, when I tried to open up messenger again, I got
a message that said, "Default Inbox does not exist" and messenger refused
to open. I tried to open messenger ~5 times, all receiving the same
message. Then, suddenly, netscape crashed and the info it gave me was "Bus
error".
When I reopened netscape, I went to netscape messenger again and tried to
open it. It opened, asked for my password, and I was on my way.
