Project Name: ECAT - New Vendors
Submitted by: Lorraine Rappaport
Report Date: December 6, 2002
Project URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/ecat
Accomplishments Past Period:
Grainger:
- Pilot continued with no problems
- Met with Grainger to develop marketing and publicity plan
- Received go-ahead from Diane Shea and Larry Connelly to move forward.
- Grainger catalog will be available via main ECAT page on
Monday. Kick-off events will happen after the holidays.
PSB/Minuteman Press:
- Presented new identity and ECAT plan to Information Group and ASPCC.
- Finalized catalog change requests and integration specifics with
Minuteman. Minuteman will continue work with Printable to implement these
changes and integration components.
- Outlined introductory documentation that will reside on MIT page.
Herman Miller:
- Herman Miller released their new catalog, which breaks badly with
Netscape. Herman Miller plans to fix the breakage, but the work is not on
their short-term calendar. Until that time, this project will be
back-burnered. Procurement will use the site for their own
ordering. Herman Miller will continue with the ECAT integration components
(digital certificates, etc.) as time permits.
Apple:
- Apple has expressed a new interest in a direct ECAT relationship.
- The RFS team, comprised of IS and Procurement representatives, reconvened
to develop a request for proposal. The RFP will address the business and
technical criteria for a formal agreement with Apple.
- Began conversations with Apple to scope technical feasibility.
Goals for Next Period:
Grainger:
- Activate Grainger link on main ECAT page
- Plan for kick-off activities in January
PSB/Minuteman Press:
- Development work is now in Minuteman Press' and Printable's hands. We
will respond to questions, test changes, etc. as the needs arise.
- Fine-tune documentation and communications plan.
Apple:
- Issue RFP to Apple
- Continue technical detail discussions with Apple
Issues:
- None
