I have placed a working version in /srvd/patch for the RS/6000, so
users of dash should cease to have problems now. Towards the end of
the month, when the first real patch release is scheduled, it will be
moved onto the packs.

[/srvd/patch, for those who may not know, is a symlink on the packs to
a special volume in afs meant to be easy to place fixes into.
/srvd/patch is at the front of athena_path, so that binaries placed
there will be found and used instead of their presumably broken
counterparts. This fails in the case that an explicit path is used
to reach the binary. In general, however, noone should be doing this
for precisely the reason that it breaks the functionality of this
 feature.]

Note also that we are planning a small patch release for the Sun early
next week, probably Tuesday night, primarily to fix the /dev/audio and
mtools problems.
