A brief synopsis of the problem:
My floppy is maxell MD2-HD and was formated by IBM-RT with
'/etc/fdformat -h /dev/rfd0'. The floppy works successfully with IBM-RT
about 80% of the time ( i.e. no 'tape read I/O error') for tar 'cfv', 'tf'
, 'xfv' and also 'ufv'.

However, according to what I was told, these floppy can be used for vs2000.
Up to now, I have successful job ( i.e. copy on to floppy and read it back to
my locker from the floppy) only on machine m1-142-8. I have tested on machines
11-124G-?? and they don't even recognize /dev/floppy or /dev/rrd2a.

I tried to copy on machines 11-116-?? and always get a
'tar: tape read error: I/O error' at the begining or after some files copied.
also the system echos
sd2:HARD ERROR: syncerr
or
sd2:HARD ERROR: compare error
(The files on floppy is stored by IBM-RT)
