How often is "very frequently?"  I used 5.5T for a very long time, and
didn't experience that sort of problem "very frequently" at all.

inc did the right thing. You see, the MH commands need to know which
post office your mail is kept on (there is one for staff use, and three
or four outside E40), and they use the nameserver to find your
maildrop.  If they don't get a response from the nameserver, it
presumes you have a local maildrop (as opposed to one on a post office
server somewhere).
