What were you trying to do?
Use a vnc client to connect to my desktop vnc server

What's wrong:
The currently installed vnc client (vncviewer which is also the same as xvncviewer) are all kinds of terrible. It's totally buggy. In non-fullscreen mode you can use the scroll bars (if your server is at higher desktop resolution than the client) a grand total of once before they stop working, leaving you stuck in a certain section of the screen. In fullscreen mode weird things also happen: it doesn't fully go to full screen (gnome panel is still visible) and the only way to quit the client is to launch a terminal (by using Alt-F2 shorcut key) and typing killall vncviewer in the terminal window that appears under the vnc client (ie, you can't see it).

What should have happened:
Not the above. PLEASE replace the vncviewer package with xvnc4viewer. It is stable and has always worked for me in the ubuntu and debathena environments. It's just a better client.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
The bugginess reported above is not restricted to debathena, it seems to be a problem with ubuntu in general and I suspect has something to do with the compiz visual effects system (but I have no direct proof of that). Xvnc4viewer on the otherhand just works.
