Well, it's hard to debug this without being able to reproduce it but here are
a couple of things you can try-

1. try moving directory .openoffice.org in your home directory to another name,
i.e. like save.openoffice.org. This contains Open Office settings and
configuration files- it gets recreated if not found. If this fixes the problem
it's most likely some corrupted configuration file; however you will need to
recreate all your customizations if you made any, and/or recover any files
you may have save in there.

2. if it dosn't fix the problem and if it seems to be tied to that particular
document only (that wasn't completely clear from your report) but you can open
it in Star Office, try saving a copy under a different name in Star Office
and see if that fixes the problem when you reopen the copy in Open Office.
You can also try exporting it to another format like MS Word to see if that
makes a difference.

If neither of these fixes it you can come by N42 during 9-5 working hours and
ask olc consultants there if they can help.
