What were you trying to do?
Install the mdadm package for EL4
cd /afs/dev/system/rhlinux/rhel-4/RedHat/RPMS
rpm -ihv --force mdadm-1.6.0-2.i386.rpm

What's wrong:
Apparently most MTA rpms also "Provide smtpdaemon" which is needed by mdadm to send mail when the raid breaks. The MTA that athena installs does not provide this.
