If you are specifying the "lp" command, not "lpr", then this command
will fail (and firefox will not report the error). The correct command
is "lpr -P<printer>". Setting the property in this way works in my
testing.
(You can also change the destination printer, without changing
the default property setting, by setting either the PRINTER or
MOZ_PRINTER_NAME environment variable).
