I was able to reproduce this just now, though the initial problem
description seems to be a bit misleading.
I started a new presentation with OpenOffice.org on a Linux-Athena
9.3.18 system. At one point, I needed to import a graphic, so I
clicked Insert -> Graphics. This brought up the open dialog box and
put me in
/var/athena/local/ooffice_v1.1.4/distrib/i386_rhel3/OpenOffice.org1.1.4/user/gallery.
