There is an initialization bug in the current version of the i810_audio
driver that ships with the Redhat kernel package. If you're running a
current version of Athena (kernel version 2.4.18-5), this will get you
working:
[shut down everything using sound]
rmmod i810_audio
insmod /afs/dev/user/amb/i810_audio
The new driver will not be in the next Redhat kernel update package,
because that package is already in QA, but it should be in the one after
that. (Timeframe unknown, probably a month or two.) We may do something
to get it onto Athena machines before then.
