Hi,
I have a Sun Ultra 5 that just took the update to Athena 9.1. It had lots
of trouble with it but now claims to be up and running.
The host is Cuttyhunk.mit.edu, and the main current problem is that it
can't run an X server:
cuttyhunk.mit.edu# /usr/X/bin/Xsun
Error attempting to dynamically load ddx handler ddxSUNWm64.so.1
Fatal server error:
InitOutput: Error loading module for /dev/fb
cuttyhunk.mit.edu# ls -ld /dev/fb
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Aug 1 15:03 /dev/fb -> /devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/SUNW,m64B@2:m640
cuttyhunk.mit.edu# ls -lL /dev/fb
crw------- 1 root other 86, 0 Aug 10 2000 /dev/fb
This means that xlogin doesn't start and since the primary use of this
system is as a graphics console, that makes it pretty worthless. :-(
Is there any way of getting a report from track that would let me know what
is wrong with this system? I suspect that there was some trouble loading
one or more of the packages.
The system is accepting remote logins and gets a DCM update that includes
its access file based on the list nklab-access-acl. I can certainly add
principles to /.k5login to allow root access in the event that someone
wants to look at it more closely.
I'd like to avoid a complete reinstall if possible ... although I could be
convinced if this isn't simple to fix. :-)
Thanks,
--Tom
