This isn't actually a software problem; it appears that the Sun Blade
100s, like some of the earlier Sparc 5s, shipped to us without pass
through audio cables from the cdrom drive to the motherboard, which are
necessary to pass audio to the machine's sound hardware.
I'm not sure there's a better solution to this than installing a pass
through audio cable yourself, or experimenting with plugging external
speakers into the jack on the CDROM drive.
