Roach" <rar@mit.edu> CC: bugs@mit.edu In-reply-to: "[19000] in Athena Bugs" From: Jonathon Weiss <jweiss@MIT.EDU> My machine did hang last night with the serial port attached. When I looked at /usr/adm/messages, I found: [...] Jul 2 23:50:55 rar.mit.edu reboot: [ID 662345 auth.crit] rebooted by root [...] I assume this is some sort of normal update. Does this occur nightly? If so, I should probably leave my serial port disconnected until we find a solution. This was a patch release. I think your old workstation had AUTOUPDATE set to false in rc.conf, which would require you to take patch releases manually. Your new machine doesn't so it will automatically try to take them when no one is logged in. You may wish to set AUTOUPDATE to false in /etc/athena/rc.conf. -- Jonathon
