View a Flash application in Netscape

I looked at OLC answers, but found nothing.
I tried OLC, but that gave me an error.
What's wrong:
Put macromedia plugin in my ~/.netscape/plugins directory but
Netscape still didn't recognize the Flash application.
What should have happened:
I should have seen a Flash application in Netscape.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
When I type about:plugins in the Netscape Location: box
I get a Netscape: subprocess diagnostics (stdout/stderr) popup.
The popup says:
ERROR 66308:/var/athena/infoagents/arch/sgi_65/MIT-only/netscape/netscape: rld: Fatal Error: Cannot Successfully map soname '/afs/athena.mit.edu/user/m/j/mjgriff/.netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so' under any ...
Can't load plugin: blah/blah/blah/libflashplayer.so Ignored.
