Subject: screensaver problem
Hi,
I told you about a screensaver problem
about two months ago with Sun Ultra10 workstation
kanga.mit.edu in Bld. 48 basement.
You said it was a known problem. The problem
is that the screen freezes sometimes, then you
have to reboot the machine.
In my case, the problem seems to occur after you've
logged into the machine overnight. Not all the
time though. However, today it didn't freeze but
did freeze after I went to lunch. I was not amused
because I lost my place at work so to speak.
Is there a workaround to this problem?
Has it been fixed by Sun? Can we get rid of
the automatic screensaver and have an optional
one?
Thanks. -Jean Fitzmaurice

I am sending this to (bugs) just as an FYI. However, if this
system is an ultra10, it is highly possible that the cpu is
causing this problem and will need replacement. I am going to treat this as a hardware problem for now. Hopefully we
will be getting a few 440mhz cpu's in by the end of the week, and I will hold one aside for Kanga.
Thanks,
