Just realized Alex's response to this while I was away didn't get cc'd
to bugs and intermediate exchanges were offline. Anyway, since then we
fixed a matlabpath oddity which had crept in during an update in March,
and the two OLC users seem to think this has fixed the problems they
saw, so I'm flagging this for now.
FTR should it resurface, logs are omatlab [9415] and [9416]; also an
earlier one which coincided with the March update, [9399].
