Hi, I'm betting cleanup is nuking your shell process partway into the
download.

One way to avoid this problem is to give yourself an entry in
/etc/passwd.local (I'm assuming you don't have one; if you do, then
I'm wrong).

This is still a bug, although I'm not sure how to address it, so I'm
not going to close the report yet.
