I verified that this does happen (indeed, not just xls but any other non-xs4
format) and reported it to the vendor. They acknowledge that this happens
and unfortunately is not changed in Xess 5 (just about to be released).
I put in a feature request that they include this clearly in the
documentation, as well as make a popup alerting users when they are about
to save a sheet with graphs in non-xs4 format (unless thay can save the
graphs in other formats, which seems unlikely in the near term according to
their tech support). I will add a warning about this to the README.athena
in the Xess lockers. Sorry for the lost work-
