| The fact that the cursor changes to that icon indicates to me that
| you're "dragging" the link around. This is easy to do accidentally, if
| you're a fast mouser and you move the mouse past threshold while holding
| the button down on the link. It would also explain why you don't get it
| every time.

Possibly...I just played around with this on a cluster Ultra 10
and was unable to replicate the problem. Dragging with mouse 1
produces a purple bookmark icon, but not a green one. I tried
short drags and long drags, and under no circumstances did I get
a hang or anything anomalous. The cursor always "exploded" into an
XC_hand2 icon when I released the left mouse button.

| Ultra 10s have apparently got problems with this feature of Netscape
| 4.05. Aurora wrote me a few days ago about doing the same thing (also by
| accident) and getting all sorts of ick in the console window. She didn't
| hang, but judging from the weird errors she got, that was just a matter
| of good luck.

I reliably got console errors:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 91 (X_QueryColors)
  Value in failed request: 0xffffff
Serial number of failed request: 47080
Current serial number in output stream: 47080
  Widget hierarchy of resource: unknown

I don't think they're necessarily related to the hangs I was seeing,
and I'm disinclined to spend overmuch time analyzing them given their
severity. Someone should consider running netscape under XScope,
though, and see what happens.

| I suspect, though, it's going to turn into a doc issue, i.e. nothing we
| can do about it.

Oh, there's always something we can do about it ;-).
