Hello,
I am addressing this to you on the presumption that you entered the bug
report for the actual user:

I tried this, both with the Del and Backspace keys, and see no problem: the
selected text gets deleted in both cases. Is there any way the problem can
be consistently reproduced? Does it show up on other machines? If it can
be reproduced, please give me detailed steps that will let me see it.
Unfortunately, even problems that trigger specific error messages like the
one you included in your bug report are usually ignored by vendors if
they can't trigger the problem themselves.
Some other possibly relevant things- what window manager was being
used? Was anything about the state of the machine where the problem
was seen unusual in any way? What Framemaker release was it- the
current Athena default, or a newer or older one (we currently have
4.0, 5.1 and 5.5 on Athena- 5.1 is the default).
