Type and version:	SPARC/5 8.0L (1 update(s) to same version)
Display type: cgthree

What were you trying to do?
Use comp with vi as the default editor to create and send email
	over dialup.

What's wrong:
Two things. First of all, I notice that frequently if I've used
shell escapes within vi, when I go to send the draft whatnow
bombs with a 'problems with draft' message and I have to send the
thing manually using send. This condition has improved somewhat
recently (perhaps) but still happens a lot.

Second, if I get thrown off a dialup session becuase of flaky
phone lines, etc, vi no longer seems to save my work. I used to
get an email when I logged back on from either postmaster@mit.edu
or from my username telling me to use vi -r. This no longer
works. Sometimes I see a fleeting message, something about
"unable to create foobar in /preserve" or something like that.
This condition is really serious - I've lost sizeable messages.

What should have happened:
	Life should be pleasant
