The only thing I remember this from is when xmh would call send with
the -push option to cause it to worry about sending the mail in the
background, and then the user logged out and was removed from the
password file before the message could be properly queued. So we have
patches in xmh to remedy that.
If there is a new mailer or a recently updated version of an old
mailer that doesn't do the right thing, that's one way we could see
this problem again. (It seems that exmh was updated about a month ago,
for example, but it looks like it's doing the right thing by
default. However it does have an option available to do the wrong
thing, which is changable in the preferences GUI. If this is a new
option (I don't see old code in the sipb sources to be able to check),
it's possible that users are just beginning to use it to shoot
themselves in the foot.) Can we find out what users were losing and
ask them what they're sending mail with?
