Where you trying to use xdvi with a remote display? I believe there's
a known problem with the 8.0 version of xdvi using a non-local
display. (If you were using a local display, was your DISPLAY set to
hostname:0.0 instead of just :0.0?)
At any rate, release 8.1 includes an upgrade of xdvi to the most
recent version, which I believe fixes the known problem and hopefully
this one as well if it's different.
