I just looked into this. I don't believe that you get this problem
when you use the Athena version of xdvi, since the Athena version
doesn't appear to use Display Postscript. I certainly couldn't
reproduce the problem without using the SIPB version. Can you verify
that you have this problem with the Athena version?
