It appears the emacs dumped for Athena 8.0 has require-final-newline set to
"nil" by default. This is almost certainly a bug; it's a distinct change in
behavior from previous versions of emacs available on athena, and the
average user is likely to be better off having it set to "t" unless they
explicitly want it to be otherwise, in which case they can figure out how to
make the change themselves.
