Wow! I thought I was the only one who had to suffer the agony of using vui.
You have my condolances. I reported the annoying problem you describe to the
authors years ago, but there seems to have been no progress in getting it
fixed.
A work-around I have used is to use the RESTORE command.
That brings the message into an editor window as if you were going
to modify it and send it. The value of doing this is that you can
tab down into the composition window, and scroll through the text of
the message.
I will again poke at the friendly folks at the Andrew Consortium.
Unfortunately, I don't hold out much hope for a fix any time soon.
vui is very low on their priority list, and once they have a fix,
integrating patches into unsupported parts of the Andrew application
suite is low on OUR priority list.
If it's any consolation I have, as an associate member of the Andrew
Consortium gone on record as saying that vui is not so much a user interface
as a means of torture.
