So I gave dig-dug, the Linux machine in the test cluster (W92-129) a
new install of Helix Code Gnome on top of (non-Athena) Redhat. I also
installed Evolution 0.5 and Nautilus Preview 1. You can use the gtest
account to play around with these mythical programs, which are at
least stable enough that they won't crash at the first click, though
there are some features yet to be implemented here and there.
They are both a joy to use, though (as is the Helix Code installer, I
must say, with its cute little animated monkeys). You can also ssh
in, though this is sometimes less successful.
Note that you won't have access to AFS and other Athena things from
this machine.
It's easy enough to keep this maching updated with the latest Helix
Code and Eazel software, assuming no one needs it for Athena testing.
