I don't think the language is too complicated provided the semantics of the options are clearly defined. I got a little puzzled by things like lbreak and rbreak, and even now, don't really remember exactly what they do. Something like substr, it seems to me, would be more useful. "Hard to implement" isn't an excuse as far as I'm concerned.
