I was sent a mail by Debi requesting how multiple
copies of the same log were created while I was
working.
Machine : Win NT 4
I was reading the log 101165. I then added
the email message I had sent to the client using
Eudora by using simple copy+paste. Thereafter,
when I clicked on "save", Scopus crashed. It gave
an application error ( i do not remember the code
Dr. Watson reported), and I had to restart Scopus.
I noticed that while the "save" button was active,
the other "Close Log" button was greyed out. This
is generally not the case i suppose.
Then when I restarted Scopus and repeated the same
procedure, i.e. opened the log, copied the text matter
and clicked on "Save", it crashed again.
Again, I restarted Scopus and this time I did a "find
all new logs". I found that Scopus had created 2 extra
duplicate logs of 101165 without the text I had copied.
I marked them both "cancel" and opened the original
log. This time however the "Close Log" was also active.
I copied the text, clicked on "save". It worked fine.
Then I clicked on "Close Log" and it worked.
I think the problem must have been with the Locking of
a Log. Since i had 101165 open, and Scopus crashed before
I closed the log, it must have kept it locked. Then when
I reopen the log and try to save it, it thinks I am
someone else, and so tries to make another log... however
why it crashed I still do not understand.
Anyway.... i guess that's about it.
