We turned on Archiving on Arachne.

Just after my phone call with you, Miki and I turned on Archiving. (At
least we're pretty sure we did.) Here is what we did:
1. Modified initpdb.ora to remove the '#' comment character from the
line that sets archivelog to true.
2. Inside svrmgrl we:
alter database archivelog

If there is some change to the startup scripts required to run the
'alter' commands every time, we didn't do that.

Miki and I did this to attempt to keep your workload down, while at the
same time addressing the urgent and important issue of setting
Archivelog mode so that we'd all feel comfortable about the level of
backup happening with the database.
