During the Super SIG meeting this past week, some suggestions were
offered in regards to scheduling the next OSF Interoperability Festival
(I-FEST). I would like to hear from the DCE SIG participants who plan
to attend the event, and get your input on the ideal times to schedule
I-FEST '95.
I-FEST is an annual two week testing event that allows implementors to
test the interoperability of their implementations in a true real-time
multi-vendor heterogeneous environment. I-FEST is one of the
prerequisites for achieving OSF DCE Certifcation for DCE
implementations. I-FEST gives participants the opportunity to test,
verify, and improve their implementations before going to the
marketplace. The first week of the event involves testing of the
secure core (THRDS, RPC, CDS, SEC, DTS) components, and during the
second week, DFS, GDS, and "end-user oriented" scenarios are tested.
Here are the suggested timeframes for the next I-FEST event:
A) April 24th, through May 5th
B) May 1st, through May 12th
C) June 5th, through June 16th
D) Provide your recommendation
Other events and dates to be aware of:
Event Location Dates
===== ======== =====
Uniforum '95 Dallas, TX March 14-16
OSF Member meeting Boston, MA May 31st, thru June 2nd
Unix Expo '95 New York, NY September 19-21
In order for OSF to effectively plan for this event, OSF needs to
understand which companies will be participating, find the best
timeframe for the event, know how many machines and DCE implementations
each company will bring, and know what version of DCE the participating
implementations were based on.
Please respond by 11/30/94 by prioritizing your schedule preferences for
the next I-FEST event from the list above. Please include any other
information that you are able to offer at this time. If you definitely
cannot make any of the dates listed please identify them.
Your input and feedback is important to OSF so please take the time to
respond to this message. If you are interested in this type of testing,
but cannot make the next event, please let us know how OSF could better
suit your needs and requirements. For more information about the I-FEST
event, or DCE Certification Program please contact me.
