AFS System Administration
3/27/95-3/29/95
This course prepares students to plan, install, manage
and recover the distributed file system, AFS. This class
covers terms and concepts for effective AFS admini-
stration including planning for growth and end user
training needs, and troubleshooting. System admini-
stration tasks taught include managing client machines
and volumes, account creation and the AFS backup
system. Cost: $1,600 per enrollee.
DCE Secure Core System Administration
3/27/95-3/29/95
This class teaches the functionality of each component
of the DCE Secure Core, as well as the interaction
between the various components. It also addresses
tasks that a system administrator will need to perform,
such as backup and restore, cell reconfiguration, and
security. Cost: $1200 per enrollee.
DFS System Administration
3/30/95-3/31/95
This class teaches the functionality of DFS and the
different components that comprise the distributed file
system. This class focuses on tasks a system admini-
stration will need to perform, including the administra-
tion of file sets, client and server machines, backup and
restore, and DFS account administration. Cost: $1,000
per enrollee.
Encina Monitor System Administration
3/30/95-3/31/95
Through the use of basic Monitor examples, students
gain an understanding of the Encina Monitor environ-
ment as a whole, and how each DCE and Encina com-
ponent is used. Students will also acquire a basic un-
derstanding of installation and configuration issues of
the Encina Monitor, the Structured File Server and Log
Service. Cost: $1,000 per enrollee.
Programming with DCE (hands-on)
4/03/95-4/07/95
The OSF DCE product has an extensive set of applica-
tion development interfaces to create applications for a
distributed computing environment. Students learn the
concepts behind each of the components of DCE and
gain knowledge of coding applications through hands
on experience. This is a 5 day class with 50% of class
time devoted to hands on activities to reinforce the
lecture portions. Cost: $2,000 per enrollee.
Programming with Encina Monitor, RQS,and PPC (hands-on)
4/10/95-4/14/95
This class provides a foundation for writing transac-
tional client/sever applications using Encina products.
The course covers coding Encina Monitor client/server
applications using XA compliant resource managers
and programming applications for Encina Recover-
able Queuing Server (RQS). Encina Peer to Peer
Communication service (PPC) will also be discussed.
This is a hands on lab course with more than 50% of
the 5 day class time devoted to hands on activities.
Cost: $2,500 per enrollee

All courses listed here will be held at the MicroTek Education Center, San
Francisco, CA. Specific information will be provided upon registration.
Training at Customer Sites
Companies with large groups requiring training may find it cost
effective to arrange for training classes to be held at their own
location.
