                Securing the Enterprise Web:
Groupware for the Web, Web Mail and DCE Web
                        Security

                       presented by
                  OSF Research Institute
                    February 15-16, 1995

Dear DCE & Web Professional:

Concerned about taking the plunge into DCE and the
Web? Overwhelmed by the security issues involved in
safeguarding your information as you plan for selling
and supporting your products via the Web?

You're probably hearing a lot of talk about efforts to
bring the power of the World Wide Web (WWW), the
Internet, and Distributed Computing Environment (DCE)
enterprise client/server computing to the workgroup.
You've heard how these changes will increase your
company's productivity and reduce its costs by
revolutionizing the way your users and teams access,
distribute, and share information and eventually conduct
commerce over the Web.

You've also probably asked yourself these questions
about the complex problem of information security in a
world of cross-platform, open systems, distributed
networks, and the WWW.

* "How secure is the Web? What's the best way to
safeguard our information on the Web?"

* "What security is provided by DCE? How does DCE
   secure the Web?"

* "What happens when you add proxies and firewall
   servers?"

* "What's all this talk about public key encryption for
   electronic commerce?"

* "How do I make it all fit with my existing
   environment?"

If you're concerned about improving enterprise network
efficiency while safeguarding your information, you'll
want to attend this new, one and a half-day, OSF
members-only workshop, Securing the Enterprise Web, now
offered by the OSF Research Institute, February 15-16
at OSF corporate headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

What will you learn?

The workshop is a combination of research result
prototypes ready for members to build upon and research
results that will become available in 1995. Taught by
OSF RI architects and senior engineers, you'll learn:

* What's good about the Web, Web security, and where
    it falls short

* Who's using Web security and what are they using it
    for

* Today's Web security solutions and the problems they
    solve

* Web security risks and proposed solutions

* Encryption and protocols built on encryption

* DCE Web security tools supporting secure
    transactions

* Applying DCE security and access control features to
    the Web

* Managing Web pages using DCE fine grained access
    control

* A vehicle for distributing application software that
is customized to the hardware/software environment
    of the Web user

* Demonstrations of DCE Web security tools, groupware-
focused Web features such as Web Mail, and other
    Web-related OSF RI research programs

* Unfolding the future - Emerging OSF RI innovations

What else do you get?

To encourage the transfer of RI technology to OSF
members, you will receive a discount on OSF research
snapshots of Web-related prototypes if purchased at or
within 30 days of the workshop. You'll receive
prototype snapshots worth $3,000 for only $1,000! The
package includes:

   *   DCE Web snapshot program
   *   Web Mail snapshot program
   * Web groupware server snapshot program

Who should attend?

* Strategic enterprise network designers, network
managers, DCE developers, and Web server
    administrators

* Enterprise groups exploring the Web and DCE cells as
a way to communicate between departments, customers,
    members and / or suppliers

What's the agenda?
