It sounds like the make ran into an error while building the libraries.
Try running make and redirecting the output into a log file. Then try
looking at the log file and see what file(s) the compiler was having
trouble with.
Good luck!! Have you ever had to do this type of debugging before? (My
apologies for asking, but are you familiar with make and C programming?
Some of your comments seem to indicate that you're a bit of a novice in
Unix/C programming skills.)
