It's very possible that the client is mistaken, but we do not have
access to NAV and therefor cannot confirm or deny this.

Regardless, this is likely not a problem as this is the only reference to
it, but it is worth looking into as it's name suggests that it is a
timed release effect.

-----------------CASE HISTORY-----------------

Entry: Monday, May 18, 1998 11:33 AM -- fernando -- Talked to Client --
Client says there is a virus called 10_Past_3.748 in our Mink download
file. It placed itself in a~GLH0011.tmp file. Client just removed the file
and now everything is fine. He has not downloaded anything else or placed
any diskettes in the computer before he got this virus. He has the latest
updated version of Norton Ani Virus. Norton caught the virus as it was
being downloaded.

Before closing this log we should try to reproduce the problem and notify
person in charge of Mink.

I downloaded the file to several computers but detected no virus, but they
were all running Dr. Solomon's AV. We don't have Norton AV or else I would
check that too.

I went through the steps with the client to see exactly were he downloaded
the file. These are the steps he took:

http://web.mit.edu
http://web.mit.edu/resources.html
http://web.mit.edu/afs/athena.mit.edu/org/c/cwis/computing.html
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/eudora/

http://web.mit.edu/is/help/eudora/install-95.html#kerb
http://web.mit.edu/is/help/mink/

He then clicked on the Do you want to download and install MINK now?

Immediately after that the client caught the virus.

I looked for the Norton Antivirus software but we only have one that dates
back to 1991 which definitely will not catch the problem.
