Maybe it is a hardware problem. As far as we know, noone's put it
into non-standard screen resolution.

When I came into 56-114 this afternoon, I found the machine in single-
user mode in the middle of a manual fsck. I completed the process and
rebooted the machine, but this looked similar to the state we've seen
this machine in before after a crash. Perhaps all the kinks haven't
been worked out.
