Project Name: SAP Data Archiving - Round 2
Project Leader: Bil Huxley, Sebastien Sabre
Report Date: 8/3/01
Submitted by: Sebastien Sabre
URL: https://mit.edu/is/delivery/data-archiving/
Accomplishments past period:
----------------------------
* Took delivery of the refreshed SAP staging system. This system is used
for the archiving testing.
* Finalized the project's timeline based on conflicting projects scheduled
for August.
* Selected 3 new archiving objects for this project:
- MM_ACCTIT: MM Accounting interface posting data
- FM_DOC_FI: FI individual funds management items
- FM_DOC_OI: Commitments in funds management
* Met with Wayne Turner (FSS) and agreed on the selected objects as well
as the FSS validation schedule.
* Conducted preliminary evaluation of MM_ACCTIT: Archived a small amount
of documents and Kyriakos Zavoleas (from FSS) verified the non-impact
of the archiving on transaction MB03 (material document display).
* Archived FY96-FY99 of MM_ACCIT in the Staging System.
* Preliminary evaluation of FM_DOC_FI and FM_DOC_OI:
This evaluation has shown that FM archiving wasn't possible without prior
archiving of several archiving objects including FI_DOCUMNT, MM_EBAN, ...
This will force us to consider other ways of purging the FM data.
Goals for the coming period:
----------------------------
* Complete the validation of MM_ACCTIT.
* Make decision on FM data removal:
Considering the short time frame and the fact that the FM archiving
is not possible without prior archiving of other objects (FI,..),
does it make sense to pursue the purge/deletion of FM data ?
* Update the Project Web site.
* Wrap-up the project.
Note:
-----
* This project was originally scheduled to end in early September but
will need to be completed earlier to free resources for a higher
priority archiving project: "the Production Subset project"
