Accomplishments for the past period:
- compiled master list of web interface functions to facilitate
discussions with contract developers; held two serious conference
calls with developers & their management to expedite code delivery
- continued testing & providing feedback on web interface development work
- finished the Business Plan; see
http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/enterprint/busmodel4.html
- met with CAO management team to discuss IPM rollout, mainframe shift
to networked printers and general printing service requirements
- developed & tested a solution to address internal job 'jogging'
with FSS for GL Statements from SAP
- successfully tested a 3160 feature to address mixed duplex & simplex
within a holes job
- worked with IBM to define PCR-3 work (sys admin browser interface)
- tested KLPRwith LPRng; it works from all platforms now
- tested VM PSF APAR performance & functionality (net attached
printing from the mainframe)
- finalized notice to VM clients wrt shift to network attached printers
and the exposure to clear print text
- investigated a problem with some Macs' file submittals always
appearing on the server as ASCII
Goals for the coming period:
- ensure that PCR2 (webified op function) and PCR1 (webified general
function) tasks are completed
- work with ASST to ensure a smooth transition to production mode (move
pillageto E40, backups, op docs, etc.)
- implement htaccess for authorization control
- get & test PCR3 (webified admin function) from IBM
- document and train operators on the web interface
- continue working with FSS to support the new GL Statement printing
- continue customer discussions wrt IPM rollout & network based
mainframe printing
- work with VM-SST to implement changes for duplex/simplex path solution
- run full scale test of General Ledger with FSS and other teams
- touch bases with impacted IS teams wrt limited production rollout
to clarify expectations & responsibilities
- resolve the riddle of why PDF/Postscript files from some Macs are
appearing as ASCII
- resolve org fit for mainframe eforms maintenance with VM-SST
- complete the Financial Model
- verify authentication solution for application servers
- revise WBS (carryover)
- continue working on MITSIS forms conversion as time permits (low priority)
Issues:
none
Key learnings:
If outsourcing code development again, I'd add a penalty clause based
on delivery schedules in the contract.
